Laurie Cuthbert is Head of the Department of Electronic Engineering at Queen Mary, University of London. In the late 1980s he founded the Telecommunications Research Group in the Department and this group was one of the first to be active in ATM around that time. It has now moved to research in Internet traffic engineering, intelligent management of fixed and mobile networks and control of complex networks.
Laurie has extensive experience of telecoms research in a European context, running many EU research projects over the last 14 years. He has also taken a strong interest in IEE telecoms events (chairing the residential course on Telecoms Networks: the next generation) as well as serving on an OFTEL panel of experts.
