Biography:

Zhaoyang Zhang received his B.Sc degree and Ph.D degree in communication and information systems from Department of Information Science and Electronic Engineering, Zhejiang University, in 1994 and 1998 respectively. He is currently a professor with Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, Zhejiang University. He has a wide variety of research interests, including Multiuser Information Theory and Advanced Coding Theory, Distributed Multi-antenna Technology, Cooperative Communications, Cognitive Radio and Cognitive Radio Networks, Wireless Mesh Networks, etc.

He has authored or co-authored more than 100 papers including about 20 international journal publications in journals like IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, Computer Communications, etc., and holds 7 patents with 20 more still pending.

He received 2 Prizes for Scientific and Technological Progress, one 3rd grade and one 1st grade, from Ministry of Information Industry (MII) and Education Office of Zhejiang Province, respectively. He served or is currently serving as Editorial Board Member and Associate Editor for Wiley's International Journal of Communication Systems, Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, International Journal of Wireless Communications and Networking, as reviewer for more than 20 international top journals like IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Signal Processing Letters, etc., and also served or is serving as TPC Co-Chair, TPC member, or Session Chair for many international conferences including WirelessCOM'05, ITW'06, WCNC'07, ICC'07, GlobeCOM'07, ChinaCOM'07, ChinaCOM'08, VTC'08, CrownCom'08, HPCC'08, ICCCN'09, ICC'10, WCNC'10, etc.

He is a member of IEEE Communication Society and Information Society, a senior member of China Communication Society in which he serves as a member of the Youth Working Committee. He is also a technical committee member for several governmental standardization organizations.
